Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a diffractive element for functioning like a transmission-type hologram, and particularly to provide a diffractive element suitable for constituting part of an image projection system. This invention provides a composite diffractive element having a layered structure having a first diffractive element, a second diffractive element, and a third diffractive element in this order, the second diffractive element diffracting and reflecting, toward the first diffractive element, light which is transmitted through the first diffractive element and which reaches the second diffractive element, the first diffractive element diffracting and reflecting, toward the third diffractive element, light which is diffracted and reflected by the second diffractive element, and the third diffractive element transmitting the light diffracted and reflected by the first diffractive element, and diffracting and reflecting zero-order light transmitted through the first diffractive element and the second diffractive element.
