Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a composite material production method that suppresses irregularities in the arrangement of reinforcing fibers during preforming and that, by improving formability, makes it possible to form a high-quality composite material that has few limitations on shape. The purpose of the present invention is also to provide a composite material production device, a preform, and a composite material. [Solution] A production method for a composite material 400 that is provided with a reinforcing substrate 510 and with a resin 600 with which the reinforcing substrate is impregnated. The production method has: an application step (step S12) wherein an adhesive 520 is applied to the reinforcing substrate, which is in sheet form and comprises a first region 511 and a second region 512, such that the density of the adhesive in the second region is lower than the density of the adhesive in the first region; and a preformation step (step S17) wherein a preform is formed by preforming the reinforcing substrate into a three-dimensional shape wherein the curvature of the second region is greater than the curvature of the first region.
