A composite material and a method for producing same are provided, the composite material comprising: a plastic layer; and a steel sheet laminated on one or both surfaces of the plastic layer, in which plastic particles are dispersed in the surface, of the steel sheet, which is in contact with the plastic layer. The composite material may be applied for an automotive component or structure and the like.
