Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a composite polymer electrolyte membrane that can resolve the issue of deficient mechanical strength in hydrocarbon-based solid polymer electrolyte membranes, while improving the proton conductivity thereof as a composite membrane, and that can improve the durability and performance thereof when used in fuel cells, and to provide a polymer electrolyte/electrode assembly and fuel cell using said composite polymer electrolyte membrane. [Solution] A composite polymer electrolyte membrane that is a composite electrolyte membrane in which a polymer electrolyte having an aromatic ring on the polymer main chain thereof has been filled into pores in a porous substrate, and that is characterized by the polymer electrolyte having a structure including at least the structure represented by chemical formula (1), and the composite electrolyte membrane having an ion exchange capacity of at least 1.5 meq/g. In chemical formula (1), Ar represents a divalent aromatic group having at least one group selected from the group consisting of a sulfonic acid group and a phosphonic acid group, and n represents an integer of 2-100.
