Abstract:
Disclosed is a composite roller mill for hot-rolling mills which is comprised of a center roll made as a body of roll with roll necks from an iron-carbon alloy and a hardened external layer covering the center roll and forming a single piece with the said center roll. The said external layer covering the center roll is made of high-carbon quick-cutting steel with carbon nitride hardening, the thickness of the said external layer being comprised between 5 and 20 % of the diameter of the center roll. The composite roller mill can be used in metallurgy, in particular as a working roller for roughers and finishing stands meant for sheet and broad-strip hot-rolling mills. The composite roller has high strength properties and heat resistance of the external layer due to an optimal ratio of carbide and nitride phases, to a reduced carbide inhomogeneity and to the absence of eutectic carbide grid in its structure; moreover, it contains a reduced amount of such carbide formers as chrome, tungsten and molybdenum. Without affecting the hardness and the resistance of the external layer to tempering, the said properties ensure an optimal durability taking into account the need for reconditioning the external layer and for an optimal consumption of the expensive material used to manufacture the said roller mill.
