Abstract:
Provided is a composite separation membrane that is provided with separating layers, said separating layers comprising SPAE and being positioned on the surface of a porous supporting membrane, and has dramatically improved characteristics of fractionating neutral low molecular substances and a high water permeability. The composite separation membrane according to the present invention is provided with separating layers formed on the surface of a porous supporting membrane, wherein: the porous supporting membrane contains 50 mass% or more of polyphenylene ether; the separating layers consist of a first separating layer and a second separating layer; the first separating layer is formed on the surface of the porous supporting membrane, has a thickness of 50 nm inclusive to 1 μm inclusive, and comprises a sulfonated polyarylene ether copolymer having a repeated structure consisting of a specific hydrophobic segment and a specific hydrophilic segment; and the second separating layer is formed on the surface of the first separating layer, has a thickness of 1 nm inclusive to 50 nm exclusive, and comprises an alternating laminate configured of one or more kinds of ionomers.
