Provided is a composite telephone device capable of checking a caller device and performing communication by an optimal communication operation in accordance with the caller device by a communication start instruction. A parent device (10), when called, identifies the type of a communication device of a caller, acquires identification information of the caller, and sends the device information indicating the type of identified communication device and the acquired identification information to a child device (20). The child device (20) displays the identification information received from the parent device (10) and monitors when a communication button (27a), a no-admission button (27b), or a pretend-to-be-out button (27c) is pressed. When the communication button (27a) is pressed, a communication operation of a basic mode corresponding to the type of the communication device of the caller is performed. When the no-admission button (27b) is pressed, a communication operation of the no-admission mode corresponding to the type of the communication device of the caller is performed. When the pretend-to-be-out button (27c) is pressed, a communication operation of the pretend-to-be-out mode corresponding to the type of the communication device of the caller is performed.
