Description

Title: COMPOSITION COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE TAMARINDUS INDICA SEED POLYSACCHARIDE

[0001] The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition of keratin materials, such as the skin, in particular for moisturizing keratin materials, comprising at least one Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide, at least one amino acid or one amino acid derivative and water.

[0002] Another subject matter of the present invention is a method for the cosmetic treatment of keratin materials, such as the skin, in particular for moisturizing keratin materials, comprising a first stage of mixing a composition A) comprising at least one Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide and water; and a composition B) comprising at least one amino acid or one amino acid derivative, then comprising a second stage of application of said mixture to keratin materials, in order to form a gel on the keratin materials without the help of a support.

[0003] Another subject matter of the present invention is a multicompartment kit comprising, in a first compartment, the composition A) comprising at least one Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide and water; and, in a second compartment, the composition B) comprising at least one amino acid or one amino acid derivative.

Technical field

[0004] The skin, which is a protective and exchange barrier with the environment, is both strong and fragile, it may lose its suppleness and its capacity to retain water decreases, then causing skin dryness.

[0005] The face is one of the surfaces of the body most exposed to external attacks, such as pollution, the sun and variations in temperature. This daily exposure very often results in a premature alteration to the appearance of the skin, which can become dull, become drained or also precociously exhibit wrinkles.

[0006] In order to better combat these attacks, there exist today numerous care methods which are targeted at limiting the impacts on the skin of the face by moisturizing it or by applying to it, for example, one or more cosmetic active principles. [0007] Conventionally, products of beauty mask type are well known in the cosmetics field. They can be provided in the form of a powder to be hydrated, of a gel, of an emulsion, of impregnated fabrics, of hydrogels or of a paste. Various formulations of this mask type are thus described in the literature, for example in "Cosmetic and Toiletry Formulations", Second edition, Ernest W. Flick, 1992.

[0008] These beauty masks consist of films which form upon application to the treated skin and which, after drying with a certain leave-on time, are removed by rinsing or by peeling, i.e. by pulling off, or by pilling, with the formation of more or less large pills, in particular masks based on synthetic polymers, such as polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol, or on natural polymers, such as, for example, alginates combined with calcium ions or clays.

[0009] However, the masks having a presentation form of powder to be hydrated or paste type do not provide a feeling of freshness or of moisturizing which is immediate and of long duration. Some masks are also rinsed off, thus removing a good part of the benefits contributed by the active principles present in the masks.

[0010] Furthermore, the masks having a presentation form of impregnated fabric type provide a feeling of freshness on application and good moisturizing. However, these masks involve the use of a unique format not fitting each of the face morphologies. Thus, the distribution of the moisturizing active principles is not homogeneous over the whole of the face, in particular around the mouth, the eyes and the nose.

[0011] The polysaccharide resulting from Tamarindus indica seeds is much used in cosmetics for its moisturizing properties and is known for improving the elasticity of the skin (Cosmetic Technology, Vol. 14(5), pages 17-21, 2011).

[0012] The patent KR101580809 describes a method for the manufacture of cosmetic patches in the gel form comprising a mixture of two compositions, one comprising the gum from tamarind seeds and the other comprising alcohols. However, this composition is not sufficiently fluid to be applied directly to the face and then to solidify to form the mask directly on the face at ambient temperature without use of a mold or of a support. Thus, the method as described does not make possible a homogeneous distribution of the moisturizing active principles over the whole of the face. [0013] The need thus remains to develop cosmetic compositions, in particular for moisturizing keratin materials, which are devoid of the abovementioned disadvantages.

Disclosure of the invention

[0014] Thus, the aim of the present invention is to provide a cosmetic composition which is easy to apply to the face, making it possible to form a moisturizing mask or patch directly on the face and making it possible to homogeneously moisturize all the regions of the face, particularly the area around the eyes and the mouth.

[0015] This aim is achieved with the present invention, a subject matter of which is a cosmetic composition comprising:

(i) at least one Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide;

(ii) at least one amino acid or one amino acid derivative; and

(iii) water.

[0016] The present invention also relates to a method for the cosmetic treatment of keratin materials, such as the skin, in particular for moisturizing keratin materials, comprising a first stage of mixing:

- a composition A) comprising at least one Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide and water; and

- a composition B) comprising at least one amino acid or one amino acid derivative, then comprising a second stage of application of said mixture to keratin materials, in order to form a gel on the keratin materials without the help of a support.

[0017] The present invention also relates to a multicompartment kit comprising:

(i) a first compartment comprising a composition A as described above; and

(ii) a second compartment comprising a composition B as described above.

[0018] Thus, it has been demonstrated that the cosmetic composition as described above makes it possible to form a moisturizing patch or mask in the form of a gel directly on keratin materials, such as the face, without the use of a mold or of a support. The composition according to the invention, after being applied to the face, solidifies on the face in order to form a moisturizing patch or mask in the form of a cohesive aqueous gel. This cohesive aqueous gel can thus be removed without rinsing the keratin materials.

[0019] Furthermore, the composition according to the invention is easily applied to all the regions of the face, using a finger or a brush, for example. The mask thus formed makes it possible to homogeneously moisturize all the regions of the face, in particular the dry regions, such as the areas around the eyes and the mouth. The composition according to the invention thus makes it possible to target regions inaccessible by conventional fabric masks, such as the areas around the eyes and the mouth.

[0020] Furthermore, the composition according to the invention can be applied in the form of a patch in order to specifically target certain regions of the face, in particular dry regions, such as the areas around the eyes and the mouth. The term “patch” is understood to mean a small device intended to be applied to the skin at specific regions of the skin, such as certain regions of the face.

[0021] The invention is not limited to the examples illustrated. The characteristics of the various examples can in particular be combined within alternative forms which are not illustrated.

(i) a composition A) comprising at least one Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide, water and optionally at least one polyol, in which the polyol(s) are chosen from propane-1, 3 -diol, octane- 1,2-diol and their mixtures; and

(ii) a composition B) comprising at least one amino acid chosen from trimethylglycine (betaine), proline and their mixtures, and optionally at least one polyol, in which the polyol(s) are chosen from diglycerol, glycerol, propane-1, 3 -diol, octane- 1 ,2-diol and their mixtures, better still glycerol, propane-1, 3 -diol and their mixtures; then a second stage of application of said mixture to keratin materials, in order to form a gel on the keratin materials without the help of a support.

[0102] According to a preferred embodiment, the method for the cosmetic treatment of keratin materials as defined above is characterized in that it comprises a first stage of mixing:

(i) a composition A) comprising at least one Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide, water and optionally at least one polyol, in which the polyol(s) are chosen from propane-1, 3 -diol, octane- 1,2-diol and their mixtures; and

(ii) a composition B) comprising trimethylglycine (betaine) and optionally at least one polyol, in which the polyol(s) are chosen from glycerol, propane-1, 3 -diol and their mixtures; then a second stage of application of said mixture to keratin materials, in order to form a gel on the keratin materials without the help of a support.

[0103] Preferably, the compositions A) and B) are mixed according to a 1 : 1 ratio. [0104] Preferably, before the application to keratin materials, such as the skin, the mixture of the compositions A) and B) is a liquid aqueous gel.

[0105] After the stage of mixing the compositions A) and B), said mixture is applied to keratin materials, such as the skin.

[0106] The mixture of the compositions A) and B) can be applied using the finger, a brush or any other means making possible homogeneous application to keratin materials, in particular the skin.

[0107] Preferably, the mixture of the compositions A) and B) is applied to the skin of the face, in particular of the forehead, nose, cheeks, chin and area around the eyes.

[0108] According to a preferred embodiment, the mixture of the compositions A) and B), i.e. the composition according to the invention, is applied to keratin materials after a leave-on time of less than or equal to 5 minutes, preferably of less than or equal to 3 minutes, more preferentially of less than or equal to 2 minutes. [0109] After application of the mixture of the compositions A) and B) to keratin materials, such as the skin, a cohesive aqueous gel is formed on the skin at ambient temperature (25°C).

[0110] According to a preferred embodiment, the gel formed on keratin materials after application of the mixture of the compositions A) and B) is a cohesive aqueous gel at ambient temperature (25°C).

[0111] According to a preferred embodiment, subsequent to the application of the mixture of the compositions A) and B) to the keratin materials, the cohesive aqueous gel is formed at the end of a period of time of less than or equal to 30 minutes, preferably of less than or equal to 20 minutes, more preferentially of less than or equal to 15 minutes. [0112] Preferably, the cohesive aqueous gel resulting from the mixture of the compositions A) and B), once applied to keratin materials, retains its gel structure until it is removed by the user.

[0113] Preferably, the cohesive aqueous gel resulting from the mixture of the compositions A) and B) is left on the keratin materials, in particular the skin, for a period of time of greater than or equal to 10 minutes, more preferentially of greater than or equal to 20 minutes, more preferentially still of greater than or equal to 30 minutes, better still of greater than or equal to 1 h.

[0114] The gel resulting from the mixture of the compositions A) and B) confers a good sensation of moisturizing of the skin during application. The gel formed on keratin materials is easily removed without rinsing in the form of a cohesive film.

[0115] The cosmetic treatment method as described above can be repeated several times, after a leave-on time varying from 1 minute to several weeks.

[0116] The present invention also relates to a multicompartment kit comprising:

(i) a first compartment comprising a composition A as described above; and

(ii) a second compartment comprising a composition B as described above.

[0117] The present invention will now be described more specifically by means of examples, which are in no way limiting of the scope of the invention. However, the examples make it possible to support specific characteristics, alternative forms and preferred embodiments of the invention. Examples

[0118] In the examples, the temperature is given in degrees Celsius and corresponds to ambient temperature (20-25°C), unless otherwise indicated, and the pressure is atmospheric pressure at sea level, unless otherwise indicated. [0119] Example 1

[0120] The following compositions 1 to 6 were prepared according to the process below:

- The composition A) is prepared from Tamarindus indica seed polysaccharide dispersed in water with vigorous stirring (for example, using a rotor/stator sold by VMI) at 25°C for 20 minutes;

- The composition B) is subsequently prepared by mixing the various compounds mentioned below in water at 25°C with stirring with a magnetic bar;

- 10 g of the composition A) are mixed with 10 g of the composition B).

[0121] The composition (A) and the composition (B) are mixed according to a 1 :1 ratio.

[0122] The mixture is stirred manually for 20 seconds before being poured into a Petri dish and will mark the t = 0.

[0123] [Table 1] [0124] [Table 2]

[0126] The appearance of the gel obtained in the Petri dish was evaluated at 30 minutes for each composition 1 to 6. The results of this study are described in detail in table 3 below.

[0127] [Table 3]

[0128] The appearance of the gel resulting from the mixture of the compositions A and B in a 1 : 1 ratio was evaluated at t = 30 min according to the following grading scale (the gradings are carried out on a scale from 1 to 6): - if the gel exhibits a grade strictly of less than 4, the aqueous gel is fluid. It flows when the Petri dish is tilted and it does not solidify at the end of 30 minutes.

- if the gel exhibits a grade ranging from 4 to 5, the aqueous gel is in the form of a liquid aqueous gel easily applicable by a user to the skin, in particular the face. It becomes a cohesive aqueous gel at the end of 30 minutes or less. This cohesive aqueous gel is elastic.

- if the gel exhibits a grade equal to 6, the aqueous gel is very solid and nonelastic. It is difficult to apply to the face by a user.

[0129] The compositions having a grade strictly of less than 4 or equal to 6 after a time t of 30 minutes in the Petri dish are regarded as nonusable in leave-on mask application.

[0130] The compositions having a grade equal to 4 or 5 after a time t of 30 minutes in the Petri dish are regarded as usable in leave-on mask application.

[0131] Thus, the compositions 1 to 4 according to the invention comprising an amino acid or amino acid derivative, such as trimethylglycine (betaine), exhibit a gel suitable for being used in the mask form.

[0132] The comparative compositions 5 and 6 are liquids and do not exhibit a gel appearance usable in the mask form.

[0133] The compositions 1 to 4 according to the invention can be applied easily to keratin materials, such as the skin, in particular to the face, so as to have a uniform distribution of the composition over all the regions of the face, before solidifying to form directly the mask on the face. Thus, the compositions according to the invention make it possible to homogeneously moisturize all the regions of the face, in particular the areas around the eyes and the mouth.

[0134] Furthermore, the application of the compositions according to the invention to the skin does not require rinsing when the mask is removed from the face.

[0135] Example 2

[0136] The following composition 7 was prepared according to the process described in example 1. [0137] [Table 4] [0138] (1) Sold under the trade name Xilogel HS by Indena

[0139] The gel obtained with the composition 7 according to the invention is a liquid aqueous gel which is applied uniformly to the face before forming a cohesive aqueous gel.

[0140] The composition 7 according to the invention confers a good sensation of moisturizing of the skin during application and over time.
