Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition comprising a Crassirhizomae Rhizoma extract as an active ingredient for preventing, alleviating, or treating hyperuricemia or hyperuricemia-related metabolism disorders. The Crassirhizomae Rhizoma extract of the present invention has effects of reducing the serum uric acid content in animal models as well as inhibiting activity of xanthine oxidase. The Crassirhizomae Rhizoma extract is safe and a raw material therefor is relatively easy to supply since the extract is an active ingredient derived from a natural material, so that the extract can be widely utilized in industries associated with hyperuricemia or hyperuricemia-related metabolic disorders. Particularly, the extract can be effectively used in the prevention, alleviation, or treatment of gout or gouty arthritis.
