Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: a composition for forming a light-scattering layer, in which the precipitation of titanium oxide particles, which are large particles for light scattering purposes and having high refractive indexes, is prevented; and a composition for forming a wavelength-converting layer, which comprises the above-mentioned composition and a phosphor added to the composition. [Solution] Provided is a composition for forming a light-scattering layer, the composition comprising titanium oxide particles (A) having an average primary particle diameter of 110 nm to 500 nm, a phosphoric acid ester (B) having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 to 100000 and a polymerizable monomer (C). In the composition for forming a light-scattering layer, when, with respect to a cumulative diameter (nm) of the titanium oxide particles (A) which is determined from a particle size distribution measurement value obtained by a dynamic light-scattering method, (D50)/(D10) is defined as DS and (D90)/(D50) is defined as DL wherein D10 represents a 10% cumulative diameter, D50 represents a 50% cumulative diameter and D90 represents a 90% cumulative diameter, the titanium oxide particles (A) have a DS/DL ratio of 0.4 to 1.8 and a (D50)/(average primary particle diameter) ratio of 1.0 to 2.0. Also provided is a composition for forming a wavelength-converting layer, the composition comprising the composition for forming a light-scattering layer and a phosphor.
