Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for life extension and particularly to a composition for life extension containing syringaresinol. The composition according to the present invention can extend the life of an individual by containing (+)-syringaresinol as an active ingredient and thus is highly useful medicinally or in the production of health foods for life extension. In particular, the composition containing (+)-syringaresinol as an active ingredient according to the present invention has been confirmed to extend the life of drosophilae and Caenorhabditis elegans having high genetic homology with humans and to reduce the number of CD4 and CD8 memory cells in a mouse, which is a mammal, the number of CD4 and CD8 memory cells being widely known in the field as an indicator for predicting the life of an individual.
