Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal display element using the same, whereby reduction in quality during the process of manufacturing the liquid crystal display element can be suppressed and there is no worsening of ghosting characteristics in the display element or liquid crystal display element characteristics such as dielectric anisotropy, viscosity, nematic-phase upper-limit temperature, nematic-phase stability at low temperature, and γ1. Provided are: a liquid crystal composition having negative dielectric anisotropy and containing one or more types of compounds represented by general formula (i), the content of the compounds in the liquid crystal composition being 25% by mass or greater; a liquid crystal display element which uses the composition; and a vertical alignment (VA)-type element or a fringe field switching (FFS), PSA-mode, PSVA-mode, IPS-mode, or ECB-mode element which uses the composition.
