Title:
COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR POLLINATING PALMS BY MEANS OF DRONES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2021/060994
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for pollinating palms by means of drones. It is a new and efficient method that reduces the time spent on palm pollination operations, with more efficient productivity and in a shorter time. In addition, the method reduces the risks resulting from climbing palm trees and also reduces the amount of labour, with highly efficient agricultural production. Moreover, the method makes it easier to distinguish between pollinated and unpollinated palms, by means of a database containing data recorded for each palm. The drone comprises a storage tank having a capacity and dimensions that vary according to need. A 10 L storage tank is most often used. Pollen powder is extracted from the male plant after same has been dried, then the pollen powder is put in the tank in the form of a liquid, same being mixed with water to form a liquid mixture, known as a pollen suspension. The drone flies to a height of 1 m from the end of a palm frond, then sprays directly onto the palm for 10-30 seconds, depending on the type of palm. This operation is performed over three periods in order to pollinate all the female flowers. There is an interval of 5-9 days between each period of spraying the palm with the pollen suspension.
