Abstract:
Provided are: a composition for non-linear optical materials, which is capable of forming a non-linear optical material that has excellent non-linear optical effect, heat resistance, withstand voltage and transparency; a coating composition which contains the composition for non-linear optical materials and a solvent; a non-linear optical material which uses the composition for non-linear optical materials; an optical waveguide; and a light control device.
It is used a composition for non-linear optical materials, which contains: (A) a fluorine-containing polyarylene prepolymer that is obtained by condensing (X) one or more compounds that are selected from the group consisting of (X1) compounds having a phenolic hydroxyl group and a crosslinkable functional group, (X2) compounds having a crosslinkable functional group and an aromatic ring that is substituted by a fluorine atom, and (X3) compounds having a crosslinkable functional group and an aromatic ring that is substituted by a haloalkyl group having a chlorine atom or a bromine atom and 8 or less carbon atoms, (Y) a compound having a specific structure that has a fluorine atom-substituted aromatic ring, and (Z) a compound that has three or more phenolic hydroxyl groups but does not have a crosslinkable functional group, in the presence of a dehydrohalogenation agent; and (B) an organic compound that exhibits a non-linear optical effect.
