Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating neuropsychological diseases comprising aucubin and, particularly, to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating mental diseases, a food composition, a method for treating mental diseases, and a composition for maintaining survival, promoting regeneration, or preventing the death of GABA neurons, comprising aucubin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The aucubin according to the present invention exhibits the effect of maintaining the survival, promoting the regeneration, and preventing the death of GABA neurons and promoting the production of GABA which is a neurotransmitter, and can be usefully used in the treatment or prevention of mental diseases, such as ADHD, autism, or etc. caused by a deficiency of GABA neurons.
