Abstract:
In the present invention, it is revealed that activin has an activity of promoting regeneration of the meniscus or cartilage tissue and an activity of promoting growth of MSCs without affecting differentiation/pluripotency thereof. It is also discovered that, by using activin, it is possible to treat and prevent meniscal damage or cartilage disorders, including suppression of pain and cartilage degeneration.
