Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for protecting nerve cells, a composition for preventing or treating nerve disorders, and a health functional food for preventing or improving nerve disorders, which comprise thymoquinone and vitamin C as active ingredients; and a method for protecting nerve cells and a method for treating nerve disorders, which include a step of administering the composition comprising thymoquinone and vitamin C to a subject in need thereof. The composition of the present invention which simultaneously comprises thymoquinone and vitamin C has an effect of protecting nerve cells, and accordingly exhibits an effect of preventing nerve disorders such as PTZ-induced epilepsy or seizures.
