Abstract:
Methods and compositions for improving the therapeutic efficacy of therapeutic agents previously limited by suboptimal therapeutic performance by either improving as monotherapy or reducing side effects in patients undergoing treatment for cancer. Such methods and compositions are applicable to substitute hexitols such as dibromodulcitol or analogs, derivatives, or prodrugs thereof. The use of these compositions in conjunction with radiation or other conventional chemoterapeutic agents or biotherapeutic agents such as antibodies, vaccines, cytokines, lymphokines, gene and antisense therapies, or other chemotherapeutic or biotherapeutic agents, would provide significant improvement of patients undergoing treatment for cancer.
