Abstract:
Methods for treating a cytokine storm, sepsis, COVID-19, and/or ciliopathy comprise administering a polypeptide antagonist of a Na/K ATPase/Src receptor complex to a subject in need thereof. Methods for modulating an activity of C-terminal Src kinase (CSK) are further provided and comprise contacting a cell with a polypeptide antagonist of a Na/K ATPase/Src receptor complex. Methods for screening for peptidomimetics that target Src phosphorylation by CSK are also provided and include steps of contacting a cell with an effective amount of a test peptidomimetic having at least 75% homology to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1; and detecting an expression level or activity level of CSK or an amount of phosphorylation or Src in the cell in the presence of the test peptidomimetic.
