Abstract:
The present invention relates to a use of atractylenolide III for preventing or treating irritable bowel syndrome. Therefore, the present invention can provide a composition containing atractylenolide III as an active ingredient for preventing and/or treating irritable bowel syndrome. The atractylenolide III of the present invention is effective in the suppression of colonic hypersensitivity, particularly, in the alleviation of the pain caused by an irritable colon.
