A compound for organic thin film transistors, which is represented by formula (1).In formula (1), at least a pair of adjacent two groups among R1, R3, R5 and R7 combine together to form a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon ring having 6-60 carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic ring having 3-60 carbon atoms, said ring being fused to the ring to which the groups are bonded; and at least a pair of adjacent two groups among R2, R4, R6 and R8 combine together to form a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon ring having 6-60 carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic ring having 3-60 carbon atoms, said ring being fused to the ring to which the groups are bonded.
