A compressed hydrogen tank to be filled with compressed hydrogen gas, characterized in that at least one elastomer having a hydrogen or helium gas transmission coefficient of 5.0 x 10-10 to 5.0 x 10-9 cm3(STP) cm/cm2 sec cmHg is used as the sealing material. The invention solves great technical problems to the sealing of compressed hydrogen gas (CHG) tank systems for fuel car vehicles with elastomer materials, namely, (1) high durability in an environment accompanied with pressure fluctuation of compressed hydrogen and (2) excellent resistance to the permanent set in fatigue in low-to-high-temperature environments.
