Abstract:
Provided is a compression device that can appropriately cool a motor even in a high temperature operating environment. The compression device is provided with the following: a rotating shaft 50; a primary compressor 30 that is attached to the rotating shaft and that compresses surrounding gases 80, 82 and discharges a compressed gas 83; a motor 40 that is attached to a portion of the rotating shaft on the upstream side of the primary compressor, and that drives the primary compressor; a turbine 20 that is provided on the upstream side of the primary compressor and that expands a portion of the surrounding gases and generates a low temperature gas 81 which is used for cooling the motor; and an auxiliary compressor 31 that is provided on the upstream side of the primary compressor and the downstream side of the turbine, and that compresses the low temperature gas which is used for cooling the motor so as to have the same pressure as the surrounding gases. The primary compressor generates the compressed gas by mixing and compressing the low temperature gas compressed by the auxiliary compressor and a portion of the remaining surrounding gases.
