Abstract:
A compression ignition engine capable of combusting different fuels comprises a viscosity control system and a combustion control system. Further disclosed is a control method for such an engine. In the viscosity control system, it is detected whether the viscosity of a fuel is excessively low; if the viscosity of the fuel is excessively low, a viscosity modifier is added to the fuel to compensate, thereby preventing damage from being inflicted to parts in the engine and the phenomenon in which the engine is not able to work normally due to excessively low viscosity. In the combustion control system, cylinder pressure and crank angle signals are collected, and the maximum cylinder pressure and maximum pressure rise rate are calculated online and are compared to preset limit thresholds. If the limit thresholds are exceeded, the engine is in a safe working zone by means of delaying fuel injection and closing an exhaust valve early. If the limit thresholds are not exceeded, the combustion phase is in a high thermal efficiency range by means of injecting the fuel in advance, such that the engine is in a high efficiency working zone. The engine and control method therefor are capable of maintaining the engine in a safe working zone and effectively improving the thermal efficiency of the engine on the premise that the engine is capable of combusting a variety of fuels.
