Abstract:
A compression ignition engine that comprises: an engine main body (a diesel engine 1); a first fuel supply unit (a naphtha injector 19); a second fuel supply unit (a diesel fuel injector 18) that supplies a second fuel that has a lower pressure and/or temperature when going for compression ignition than a first fuel and is also less volatile that the first fuel; and a control unit (a PCM 10) that outputs respective signals to the first and second fuel supply units. The control unit: outputs a signal to the first fuel supply unit such that a greater weight of the first fuel will be supplied than of the second fuel; and then outputs a signal to the second fuel supply unit such that the second fuel is supplied to a combustion chamber. An air-fuel mixture that forms is compression ignited.
