Abstract:
A compression ratio variable device of an internal combustion engine, comprising a piston inner part (5a), a piston outer part (5b) movable between a low compression ratio position (L) and a high compression ratio position (H) in engagement with the outer periphery of the piston inner part (5a) slidably only in the axial direction, a raising member (14) rotatable around the axes of the piston inner and outer parts (5a) and (5b) between a non−raised position (A) and a raised position (B), and an actuator (20) connected to the raising member (14) and rotating the raising member to the non−raised position (A) and the raised position (B), wherein the raising member (14), when positioned at the non−raised position (A), allows the piston outer part (5b) to move to the low compression ratio position (L) and, when rotated to the raised position (B), holds the piston outer part (5b) at the high compression ratio position (H), whereby the piston outer part can be easily and accurately moved to the low compression ratio position and high compression ratio position without being rotated.
