Abstract:
This compressor comprises an electrolyte film, an anode catalyst layer in contact with one main surface of the electrolyte film, a cathode catalyst layer in contact with the other main surface of the electrolyte film, an anode gas diffusion layer in contact with the anode catalyst layer, a cathode gas diffusion layer in contact with the cathode catalyst layer, a cathode separator provided on the cathode gas diffusion layer, and a voltage applicator for applying a voltage between the anode catalyst layer and the cathode catalyst layer, protons taken from an anode fluid supplied onto the anode catalyst layer being allowed to migrate onto the cathode catalyst layer through the electrolyte film, and compressed hydrogen being generated, as a result of application of the voltage by the voltage applicator. The cathode gas diffusion layer includes a porous carbon sheet, and the porosity of a first surface layer on the cathode separator side thereof is less than the porosity of a layer that is further inside than the first surface layer.
