Abstract:
Described is a computer-implemented method of operating a mobile communication unit of a vehicle, the mobile communication unit comprising a cellular module and a SIM card, wherein a current RPLMN list is stored on the SIM card, the vehicle further comprising an infotainment head unit and a navigation system, wherein the navigation system and the mobile communication unit are connected to the infotainment head unit, wherein a destination is entered into the navigation system, wherein it is determined whether a current location and the destination of the vehicle are located in different roaming zones, wherein, if the current location and the destination are located in different roaming zones, information related to a required roaming zone change is sent to a backend server via the mobile communication unit, wherein it is checked whether the current RPLMN list stored on the SIM card comprises mobile network operators of the destination roaming zone, wherein, if the current RPLMN list stored on the SIM card does not comprise mobile network operators of the destination roaming zone, an update request is sent to a current mobile network operator to send an updated RPLMN list to the mobile communication unit.
