The subject of the invention is a three-dimensional maps configurator to be used especially as a virtual guide for three-dimensional presentations of city centres as well as digital archiving of three-dimensional POIs (points of interest e.g.: buildings, objects etc.)
Postcards with an integrated CD or DVD onto which any content can be written are already known. There are also products with trade names such as "360 tours" or "360 cities", which are available for viewing for instance on Google maps. Their structure is based on combining multiple panoramic photographs of a given POI or a city.
Patent description no. EP 1758411 presents maps combined with navigation systems.
American patent description no. US7376510 presents the system and the method of displaying a map on a mobile device. While approaching the place (location), whose location coordinates are being sent by that device, the device presents a changing picture on the screen. The changing picture contains a general view as well as a perspective map display or a stylized map display. The stylized display may be two- or three-dimensional.
The aim of the present invention is drawing up three-dimensional maps and publishing them as non-editable versions for commercial use combining tourist information with advertising and entertainment.
According to the invention, the three-dimensional maps configurator with a navigation mode from the control panel is characteristic in that it is made of three-dimensional models of buildings fixed on a two-dimensional square- shaped vector plan, where any spatial sector is divided into squares of sides no shorter than 250 m and the square of the map in its initial position is placed at an angle of 40° to 60° in relation to the user, additionally the configurator has access to at least three main screens: the first with an interactive map and navigation panel, the second with extended multimedia information concerning the selected POI and the third one, which makes it possible to access the internet content of particular POIs, and is stored in a recording medium.
Favourably, the square of the map in its initial position is placed at the angle of
45°.
Favourably, it contains a browser of the POIs stored as well as a database of the POIs being visited.
Favourably, the database consists of films and photographs of the POIs and descriptive texts.
Favourably, the database consists of films or photographs of the POIs or descriptive texts.
Favourably, the database consists of films and photographs of the POIs or descriptive texts.
Favourably, the configurator is a virtual guide in a postcard integrated with a
CD.
Favourably, the configurator is a virtual archiver of three-dimensional architectural objects.
Favourably, the virtual guide is stored on a CD or a DVD.
Favourably, the configurator is made as an internet version with no limit to the data content.
The main advantage of the invention is the fact that the configurator is a tool, which makes it possible to create different kinds of three-dimensional maps. The use of digital data carriers makes it possible to present a considerable amount of data required by the configurator. The configurator is made according to the needs of individual users, which makes it possible to create a virtual guided tour of a selected spatial POI, which could be a city centre but also a castle, a church (or other place of religious cult), a museum or a factory and to store it on any media e.g. a DC or a DVD. The configurator makes it possible to create a guide which can be later viewed on a computer. The configurator allows digital archiving of three-dimensional objects. A very important and distinctive feature is also the fact that the virtual guide makes it possible, while visiting the virtual model of a city, to connect to the websites of selected POIs e.g. hotels or restaurants and to compare their current offer.
Any subsequent edition of the virtual guide makes it possible to modify and update the information contained within.
An additional advantage is the fact that the configurator in its internet version makes it possible to create a three-dimensional space filled with POIs, buildings, where the user can move around in an intuitive way using a computer mouse and a keyboard.
The subject of the invention, in one embodiment, is presented on the drawing, where fig.1 presents the diagram of a square of the map.
The presented embodiment does not exhaust the possibilities of using the invention.
Embodiment 1
A three-dimensional maps configurator with a navigation mode from the control panel is made of three-dimensional models of buildings 2 fixed on a two- dimensional square-shaped vector plan 1_. The spatial sector is divided into squares with sides of 300 m. The square of the map in its initial position is placed at 45° angle in relation to the viewer.
The configurator provides access to three main screens: the first with an interactive map and navigation panel, the second with extended multimedia information concerning the selected POI and the third which makes it possible to access the internet content of the particular POI. The first screen is displayed automatically as the application starts and contains the square of the map with three-dimensional models of architectural objects fixed on it. The map can be easily navigated by means of its interface. The second screen, containing information about the selected object, is stored in the data carrier along with the configurator.
The third screen opens the website of the selected POI. The third screen requires internet connection.
Additionally, the configurator contains a browser of the stored POIs as well as photographs of their details. The configurator is a virtual guide stored on a CD.
Embodiment 2
The configurator is made as in Embodiment 1 and placed on the internet. The advantage of this configurator is the fact that the amount of data is not limited by the capacity of the data carrier.
