Abstract:
This computer system comprises a data processing unit that includes a processor, and a storage unit that stores a plurality of data chunks, each of which is assigned a data ID by the data processing unit. For each of one or more data chunks of the plurality of data chunks, the data processing unit compresses the plurality of partial data chunks constituting the data chunk into a plurality of compressed partial data chunks, and stores the plurality of compressed partial data chunks in the storage unit, wherein the data processing unit manages each of the plurality of compressed partial data chunks by associating the compressed partial data chunk with the data ID of the corresponding data chunk and with partial chunk attribute information, which is information representing an attribute of the original uncompressed version of the compressed partial data chunk. When the data processing unit receives a specification of a data ID and a data attribute, which serve as information about data to be read or data to be subjected to a computation, the data processing unit decompresses a compressed partial data chunk that is among the plurality of compressed partial data chunks associated with the specified data ID, and that is associated with the partial chunk attribute information corresponding to the specified data attribute.
