Abstract:

This invention provides a condensation compound between a fluorinated cyclopentane ring and an aromatic ring, which is useful for electronic materials and the like, and a process for producing the same. For example, a compound (68) having a condensation structure between a hexafluorocyclopentane ring and an aromatic ring is synthesized according to the following scheme 1. The aromatic ring is not limited to a thiophene ring and may be any ring. The substituent may also be any substituent. Thus, a compound having a condensed ring structure between a hexafluorocyclopentane ring and an aromatic ring, particularly a thiophene ring or the like, which could not have hitherto been produced, can be produced simply at high yield. This compound is particularly suitable for application, for example, to electronic materials or semiconductors. Further, for example, application to organic n-type semiconductors and application to molecular wires necessary for the development of molecular electronic elements can be expected by expanding &pgr electron conjugation by polymerization.
