Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an organic compound which has a sufficiently small reorientation energy.
[Solution] A condensed aromatic compound represented by formula (2) or a polymeric compound having, as a repeating unit, a divalent group obtained by removing two hydrogen atoms from a condensed aromatic compound represented by formula (2). The divalent group may constitute a part of the repeating unit of the polymeric compound.
In formula (2), ring A, ring B, and ring C each independently represent an aromatic ring; X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7 each independently represent a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom; R2 groups each independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, an aryloxy group, an arylthio group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an amino group, a silyl group, a halogen atom, an acyl group, an acyloxy group, an amide group, a carboxyl group, a nitro group, or a cyano group, and the two R2 groups may be combined with each other to form a cyclic structure.
