Abstract:
The problem of the present invention is to turn on or off a permanent current switch at high speed with small heat input. A conduction cooling permanent current switch according to the present invention comprises a superconductive wire (1) for a current to flow; a cooling stage (9) for cooling the superconductive wire; and a heater (8) for heating the superconductive wire. The superconductive wire is arranged between respective surfaces formed by the cooling stage and the heater. The core of the superconductive wire is comprised of magnesium diboride (6) and a base material (5) arranged in the outer periphery of the core is comprised of a material having a resistivity of 10 μΩcm or more in 40K.
