Abstract:
A conductive member for electrophotography has a conductive support and a conductive layer in this order. The conductive layer has a matrix including a first rubber cross-linked product and a domain including a second rubber cross-linked product and conductive particles. The impedance of the outer surface of the conductive member is 1.0 × 103 – 1.0 × 108 Ω. The 80 number percentage or greater of the domains observed at each of a total of nine observation areas of 15 µm square satisfies the following requirements (1) and (2), said observation areas being placed at three arbitrary positions in the region at a depth of 0.1 T – 0.9 T from the outer surface for each cross-section in the thickness direction at three locations that are the center and positions at L/4 toward the center from both ends of the conductive layer in the longitudinal direction, where L represents the longitudinal length of the conductive layer and T represents the thickness of the conductive layer. (1) A ratio of the cross-sectional area of conductive particles included in a domain to the cross-sectional area of the domain is 20% or greater, and (2) A/B is 1.00 – 1.10, where A represents the perimeter of the domain and B represents the envelope perimeter.
