Abstract:
Provided are a connecting device and a connecting method that enable, with a simple configuration, a workpiece to be securely connected to a prescribed connection position. The connecting device comprises: a holding unit that holds a workpiece which is long and flexible and which is disposed so that the base end is fixed; a butting section against which the workpiece held by the holding unit is butted; and a control unit that controls the holding of the workpiece by the holding unit, the movement of the holding unit and the movement of the butting section. The control unit controls the holding of the workpiece by the holding unit, the movement of the holding unit, and the movement of the butting section so as to cause the workpiece to be butted against a butting site of the butting section, and to cause the workpiece that has been butted against the butting site to be connected to a connection site of a connection unit.
