Abstract:
The receptacle-side housing (110) of a receptacle connector (100) has an opening (102) into which the plug contact (250) of a plug (200) is inserted, and a contact (150) connecting to the plug contact (250) is provided within the opening (102). The receptacle-side housing (110) has engagement openings (162, 163) which engage with the engagement protrusions (215b) of the plug (200) to thereby determine the position of connection between the contacts (150, 250). The contact (150) has a branch contact section (154) including a pair of bifurcated branch sections located within the opening (102) and directed opposite the direction of insertion of the plug (200). When the position of connection between the contacts has been determined, the branch contact section (154) is elastically deformed and grips the plug contact (250) in an electrically conductive manner, the plug contact (250) being inserted between the pair of branch sections.
