Abstract:
In order to favorably achieve optical data transmission without causing damage or mistaken operation of a connected device, this connector is provided with: a signal electrode and a ground electrode which are provided, respectively, in positions corresponding to the positions of a signal electrode and a ground electrode of a mating connector; and an optical unit provided in a position corresponding to the position of an optical unit of the mating connector. When fitting with the mating connector, the optical unit is connected to the optical unit of the mating connector, and thereafter, in a state in which the ground electrode is in contact with the ground electrode of the mating connector, the signal electrode is connected to the signal electrode of the mating connector. When releasing from the mating connector, in a state in which the ground electrode is in contact with the ground electrode of the mating connector, the signal electrode is separated from the signal electrode of the mating connector, and thereafter the optical unit is separated from the optical unit of the mating connector.
