Abstract:
A constant power LED converter according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a power supply unit for receiving alternating current power, converting same into direct current power, and outputting the direct current power; a reactor unit for generating an operating voltage, a reference voltage for generation of a constant voltage, a reference current for generation of a constant current, and a driving voltage for operation of an LED which is a load, from the direct current power according to a predetermined winding turns ratio (transformer turns ratio);a control unit for comparing the operating voltage, the reference voltage, and the reference current with the driving voltage for the operation of the LED so as to output a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal for adjustment of an operation of the reactor unit, and simultaneously, compensating for a power factor; and a switching unit for inducing an on/off operation of the FET by causing the PWM signal to be input to a gate of a field effect transistor (FET), and thus, when the FET is turned off, causing energy to be stored in the reactor unit.When an LED module consumes the same power as power provided by the constant power LED converter, the constant power LED converter can be applied to LEDs constituting the LED module, regardless of a serial or parallel structure of the LEDs, so as to increase the productivity of a manufacturer and reduce the burden of inventory. Further, in a repair or maintenance field requiring replacement of only an LED converter, specifications of an LED module do not impose any limitation, and thus even a user who has no electrical knowledge can easily apply the LED converter.
