Abstract:
Provided is a construction machine wherein it is possible to secure a stable scaffold for performing maintenance work on equipment in an engine room without having to additionally provide special space for the scaffold. The construction machine is provided with: a bottom travelling body; an upper rotating body having, on the rear side, an engine room which has an opening in the upper direction, and houses a plurality of equipment including an engine and an engine cover which opens and closes the opening of the engine room; a rotation driving device for driving the rotation of the upper rotating body; and a cover for the scaffold. The rotation driving device is provided with a rotation electric motor having an electric motor output shaft, and a speed reducer which rotates at a slower speed than the electric motor output shaft, and has a speed reducing output shaft. The speed reducer is disposed in front of the engine room in a position so that the speed reducing output shaft faces downwards, and the rotation electric motor is disposed on top of the speed reducer. The cover for the scaffold is disposed on the upper edge of the rotation electric motor, and has an upper surface which functions as a scaffold when performing maintenance work on the equipment in the engine room. Moreover, the rotation driving device is disposed so that the upper surface of the scaffold is lower than the engine cover, and is adjacent to the front side of the engine room.
