Abstract:
Provided is a contact device that enables the gap between stationary contacts and a movable contact to be reduced, and that reduces the number of parts, thereby enabling manufacturing costs to decreased. Also provided is an electromagnetic switch that uses the contact device. The contact device is provided with: a pair of columnar stationary contacts (6a, 6b) that are fixed at a prescribed interval to one surface of an insulated closed container (4), and the contact surfaces of at least the leading edges of which protrude into the insulated closed container; a movable contact (11) that is provided in such a manner as to be able to make contact with and be separated from said pair of stationary contacts (6a, 6b); and a pair of annular permanent magnets for arc-extinguishing (9a, 9b) that are each attached to the outer peripheral surfaces of the pair of stationary contacts (6a, 6b), and that drive arcs to the outside.
