Abstract:
Provided are a contact device whereby it is possible to easily cause extinction of an arc which arises at contact parting time between a fixed contact element and a movable contact element, and an electromagnetic switch using same. The contact device comprises a contact housing case (102) which houses: a pair of fixed contact elements (111, 112) which are in fixed positions with a prescribed interstice maintained therebetween; and a movable contact element (130) which is positioned to be attachable to and detachable from the pair of fixed contact elements. End faces of the movable contact element which face the pair of fixed contact elements are formed as circular arc-shaped end faces (130a, 130b) centered on contact parts, and inner walls of the contact housing case which face the circular arc-shaped end faces of the movable contact element are formed as semi-circular cylindrical faces (102a, 102b) centered on the contact parts of the movable contact element.
