Abstract:
This contact device is provided with a fixed contact, a movable contact, a housing, and an arc extinguishing member. The movable contact moves between a closed position contacting the fixed contact and an open position separated from the fixed contact. The housing houses the fixed contact and the movable contact. The arc extinguishing member is arranged in the housing and emits an arc extinguishing gas. When the movable contact is in the open position, the arc extinguishing member is arranged facing the gap between the fixed contact and the movable contact. The arc extinguishing member includes a shape that is tapered towards the gap.
