Abstract:
A contact filter medium compact consisting of the solid deposit of a thermoplastic resin strand which is melted as a whole, wherein a plurality of high-density filling deposit lumps and of low-density filling areas are mixed. The contact filter medium compact has features of light weight and excellent water permeability, wherein the improvement effect of water quality has been further enhanced. Preferably, the plurality of high-density filling deposit lumps are arranged in a planar manner with the low-density filling areas therebetween. The contact filter medium compact is produced by a method, wherein when the thermoplastic resin in a heated molten state is extruded in a strand shape from a die opening and flown down into and deposited in a frame body having a constant opening shape in the horizontal direction, the thermoplastic resin is intermittently and repeatedly displaced relatively in a horizontal two-dimensional direction with respect to the strand flowing down the frame body, and the strand during flowing down is cooled; and wherein the intermittent relative displacement in the horizontal two-dimensional direction consists of a stop or reduced displacement period and a displacement period, and the plurality of high-density filling deposit lumps are formed during the stop or reduced displacement period, and the low-density filling areas are formed during the displacement period, respectively.
