Description:
A CONTAINER FOR STORING AND/OR TRANSPORTING SOUND EQUIPMENT

Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a container for storing and/or transporting sound equipment in a space-saving manner whilst keeping the equipment safe.

Background to the Invention

High quality sound equipment is very expensive and if it needs to be transported to events such as concerts, weddings, birthday celebrations, and the like, it is generally placed into a van. As the equipment is not secured in the van, it can move and become damaged during transport. Also, the equipment takes up a lot of space which means that a large van is necessary to transport it.

The inventor therefore believes, that a need exists for providing a container for storing and/or transporting sound equipment which is space-saving and can be used for the safe storage and transport of sound equipment. Summary of the Invention

According to the invention, there is provided a container for storing and/or transporting sound equipment, the container including:

- a housing for permanently housing one or more pieces of sound equipment; and - one or more compartments arranged contiguous with the housing, the compartments being accessible via a closure member.

The one or more compartments may in use house additional pieces of sound equipment.

Drawer runners or a similar rail system may be provided in the compartment to permit easy sliding of the sound equipment in and out of the compartment. In addition, this suspends the sound equipment from a floor of the compartment, thereby inhibiting damage thereto during transport.

The container may encompass the housing and the compartment. The container may be rectangular or square in shape. The shape and dimensions of the container may be varied in accordance with the shape and dimensions of sound equipment to be stored therein.

The sound equipment may be selected from the group including: speakers, synthesisers, soundcards, mixing desks, and the like. The closure member may be in the form of a lockable door arranged at an opening of the compartment.

The closure member may be provided with a flexible sealing member around its periphery. The sealing member may, for example, be manufactured from rubber so as to provide a substantially airtight seal which may dampen vibrations acting on the container.

A support frame may be provided together with the container, which frame may in use be mounted on the container. The support frame may in use support sound equipment that had been stored in the compartment.

Detailed Description of the Invention The invention will now be described by way of the following, non-limiting example with reference to the accompanying drawings.

In the drawings:

Figure 1 shows a side view of an embodiment of a container in accordance with the present invention with a support frame mounted thereon; Figure 2 shows a three-dimensional top view of the container of Figure 1 ; and

Figure 3 shows a three-dimensional top view of the container with its upper wall removed so as to show the interior of the container.

In the drawings, reference numeral 10 generally indicates an embodiment of a container for storing and/or transporting sound equipment in accordance with the present invention.

A container 10 for storing and/or transporting sound equipment includes a housing 12 for permanently housing one or more pieces of sound equipment.

The container 10 further includes a compartment 14 arranged contiguous with the housing 12, the compartment 14 that is accessible via a closure member in the form of door 16 to allow access to the compartment 14 and removal of sound equipment which is in use located therein.

Drawer runners or a similar rail system (not shown) are provided to permit easy sliding of the sound equipment in and out of the compartment 14. In addition, this suspends the sound equipment from a floor of the compartment 14, thereby inhibiting damage thereto during transport.

The container 10 encompasses the housing 12 and compartment 14. In the embodiment shown, the container 10 is rectangular in shape.

The sound equipment is typically selected from the group including: speakers, synthesisers, soundcards, mixing desks, and the like.

In the embodiment shown, the sound equipment is in the form of speakers 20.

The shape and dimensions of the container 10 can be varied in accordance with the type of sound equipment to be stored therein, i.e. depending on its shape and dimensions. The door 16 can be locked and is arranged at an end of the compartment 14.

The door 16 is provided with a flexible sealing member 22 around its periphery. The sealing member 22 is manufactured from rubber so as to provide a substantially airtight seal which dampens vibrations acting on the container 10.

A support frame 24 is provided together with the container 10, which frame 24 is in use mounted on the container 10 as shown in Figures 1 and 2. In the embodiment shown, the support frame 24 in use supports two speakers 20 that had been stored in the compartment 14.

It is to be appreciated, that the invention is not limited to the specific embodiment hereinbefore described and/or illustrated.
