A composition for inorganic fibres, the composition being composed as follows. 1.0-52.0 wt% CaO and/or MgO, 1.0-75.0 wt% La2O3 and/or CeO2, not more than 55.0 wt% SiO2, and not more than 51.0 wt% Al2O3, with the total of the above components being at least 90.0 wt%. For instance, compositions composed as follows. 1.0-52.0 wt% MgO, 1.0-40.0 wt% CeO2, 3.0-55.0 wt% SiO2, and 16.0-48.0 wt% Al2O3, with the total of the above components being at least 90.0 wt%. 1.0-48.0 wt% MgO, 1.0-75.0 wt% La2O3, 1.0-51.0 wt% SiO2, and 5.0-44.0 wt% Al2O3, with the total of the above components being at least 90.0 wt%. 1.0-45.0 wt% CaO, 1.0-68.0 wt% CeO2, not more than 46.0 wt% SiO2, and not more than 47.0 wt% Al2O3, with the total of the above components being at least 90.0 wt%. 1.0-50.0 wt% CaO, 1.0-61.0 wt% La2O3, not more than 44.0 wt% SiO2, 5.0-51.0 wt% Al2O3, with the total of the above components being at least 90.0 wt%. Inorganic fibres can be obtained from the composition for inorganic fibres. A regular shaped or irregular shaped product can be obtained using the inorganic fibres.
