Title:
ZIRCONIA/CARBON-CONTAINING REFRACTORY MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2009/113744
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Provided is an improvement to the erosion and thermal shock resistance of zirconia/carbon-containing refractory material in the high zirconia range where the zirconia content exceeds some 80 mass%.  A zirconia/carbon-containing refractory material containing at least 80 mass% zirconia and carbon base material, in which carbon bonds are formed between the aggregate particles, wherein the sum of the open pore volume within the refractory material structure and the volume of the carbon base material is not more than 42 vol% but at least 25 vol%, the pores of 10 μm or more among all of the open pores in the refractory material structure account for not more than 30%, and the carbon base material particles of maximum length exceeding 45 μm in the carbon base material in said zirconia/carbon-containing refractory material account for less than 60 mass% of all of the carbon base material, excluding the bonding carbon, in said zirconia/carbon-containing refractory material.
