Title:
CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD FOR SLAB
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/174395
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The principal purpose of the present invention is to provide a continuous casting method by which it is possible to reduce a slab within a continuous casting machine, as well as to continuously cast a slab of good internal quality despite fluctuations in casting speed. The present invention is a slab casting method in which a continuous casting machine equipped with pairs of reduction rolls that are arranged in two stages along the casting direction, and that each have a diameter 1.2-2.0 times the thickness of the slab prior to reduction, and with support rolls arranged between the reduction rolls, is used to continuously cast a slab while reducing the slab by the reduction rolls. At which time, due to the combination of reduction of the unsolidified section by the reduction rolls of the first stage and reduction of the solidified section by the reduction rolls of the second stage, the casting speed is slowed from a state in which the slab is cast at a continuous casting speed, the location of complete solidification of the slab shifts towards the upstream side as result, in association with which there is a switch to a combination of reduction of the final-stage solidifying section by the reduction rolls of the first stage, and reduction of the solidified section by the reduction rolls of the second stage.
