This invention provides a continuous heat treatment furnace, which enables the transfer speed of an object to be heat treated in a firing region to be rendered higher than that, in a drying/binder-removing region, the inside of the firing region can be stably kept at a given elevated temperature and has a high degree of freedom in design of the furnace length. In the continuous heat treatment furnace, at least one drying/binder-removing region for conducting drying and/or binder-removing treatment of an object (1) to be heat treated and a firing region for firing the object are provided in that order from the inlet side of the furnace toward the outlet side of the furnace, and, after conducting drying and/or binder-removing treatment of the object (1) while being transferred through the drying/binder-removing region, the object (1) is fired while being transferred through the firing region. A beam or wire rod, which repeats the movement of lifting, forward movement, lowering, and backward movement at a given stroke periodically, is provided as a transfer mechanism for the transfer of the object (1). A heater (62) for heating the inside of the furnace is provided only at a position above the object (1).
