A control device for a continuously variable transmission mounted to a vehicle and comprising a continuously variable transmission mechanism that changes the winding diameter of a belt clamped by a pulley and changes the gear ratio, by using oil pressure supplied to a hydraulic cylinder provided in the pulley. The control device comprises: an oil pressure supply unit that supplies hydraulic oil at a prescribed oil pressure; a flow-rate control unit that controls the flow rate that the hydraulic oil supplied by the oil pressure supply unit is supplied to the hydraulic cylinder; and a flow-rate setting means that sets a target oil pressure for supply to the hydraulic cylinder and sets the flow rate for the hydraulic oil caused to flow to the flow-rate control unit in order to achieve the target oil pressure.
