Title:
CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/008003
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A mechanical continuously variable transmission (100) allowing line contact in place of conventional point contact to reduce a pressing force between metal component parts and reduce the other energy for maintaining an action, wherein the shape of the roll surface (21) of a power roll (20) rotated by a rotating shaft (22) connected to an input shaft (11) is formed in a partial spherical shape, and a plurality of counter rolls (30) having recessed roll surfaces (31) corresponding to the partial spherical shape formed in the surface thereof, secondarily rotated in contact with the power roll (20) and connected to an output shaft (12) are rotatably assembled on the same circumference of a disk (40) connected to the output shaft (12) with the recessed roll surfaces (31) adjacent to each other generally continued to each other in annular form, whereby the rotating shaft (22) of the power roll (20) can be tilted steplessly relative to the disk (40).
